Prayer Where It All Began

Last night I had another prayer walking adventure: the site of the birthplace of Calvary Assembly of God, the Monroe Township Republican Hall.

The history of our church is a little sketchy to me.  I have tiny bits and pieces of information, but I don't really have a clear picture of what God spoke, to whom and when to start the work of our church.  I think having the story about the inception of a thing is really important and it has always bothered me that I don't.

I sat in my car and thanked God for speaking to the hearts of man to begin the work and for the belief, sacrifice, and hard work of the people that paved the way for us. And I prayed that God would supernaturally download to me what transpired during that time.  I then got out of my car and anointed the sign with oil claiming the land and the building for the Kingdom of God and praying a blessing on the property, a secular organization that allowed a church to meet.. And I anointed the entrance door with oil, thanking God for Calvary's birth.

And then I peeked through the window of the darkened hall.  Inside was an old wooden pulpit and metal chairs set up for their monthly meeting.  It gave me a visual of what the church might of looked like in the early days of their meeting and I wondered if the pulpit I saw was the same pulpit from where the first sermons were preached.

I drove away with gratefullness in my heart and an anticipation that God is going to put the picture together for me somehow, revealing to me what I need to know and what we need to pray to fulfill the original purpose He had for the church.
